A wine bottle shrink sleeve is a PETG film label or neck capsule that conforms to the bottle's curved glass profile when heated — used for full-body decoration, neck bands, or tamper-evident seals on wine and spirits. Where shrink film fits on a wine or spirits bottle

Shrink film shows up in three places on a wine bottle: the full-body sleeve that wraps base to shoulder, the neck sleeve or capsule that covers the closure, and the tamper-evident band across the cork or cap seam. Each conforms to a different curve, so each may call for a different shrink rate. Wineries and spirits brands buy printed, applied sleeves from label converters; those converters — and in-house bottling lines — buy the PETG film from us by the roll.

Why curved glass needs a higher shrink rate

Glass wine bottles have pronounced shoulders and tapered necks, which is exactly what high transverse shrink is for. Full-body sleeves that must hug a sloped Burgundy shoulder or a stepped Bordeaux transition generally need TD ≥75–80% to conform without wrinkles or bridging. Neck capsules and bands cover shorter, flared sections and typically run TD ≥75%, while machine-direction shrink stays low (MD ≤3.0%) so the graphic keeps its height. PETG's clarity and gloss (Gloss 45° ≥110%) also carry the metallic and spot-color effects premium wine relies on.

The wash-off differentiator for returnable & recyclable bottles

Here is the angle most wine-sleeve suppliers miss: for returnable or bottle-to-bottle glass programs, a standard sleeve has to be scraped off, but our PETG Bidirectional (wash-off) film shrinks in both directions (TD ≥70%, MD 35±5%) so an adhesive-backed label detaches cleanly from the glass in the hot caustic wash (70–85°C, 10–20 minutes). That lets a winery keep 360-degree decoration and still meet clean-separation requirements for glass recycling or refill lines — without a manual label-removal step. It is the same film family, chosen for the end-of-life path.

Why PETG over PVC and OPS for wine

Premium wine and spirits brands moved off PVC for the same reasons other beverage categories did: PETG offers higher clarity and gloss, contains no chlorine, and is recyclable in the PET stream. Against OPS, PETG holds tighter dimensional stability and prints cleaner. It takes gravure, flexo, and UV inkjet ink directly with no corona pre-treatment (surface tension ≥38 mN/m). We manufacture the film on 3 production lines, slit 200–2000 mm wide in 30–60 μm gauges, MOQ 1–3 tons, GRS / REACH / RoHS certified, with a COA on every batch. Do you make wine capsules and sleeves, or the film?
We manufacture the PETG shrink film in rolls. The neck capsules, full-body sleeves, and tamper bands are printed, seamed, and applied by your label converter or bottling line. Wineries specify the design and bottle; the converter buys our film to produce the finished decoration.
Which shrink rate conforms to a curved wine bottle shoulder?
Sloped shoulders and tapered necks usually need TD ≥75–80% for a wrinkle-free full-body wrap. Shorter neck capsules and bands can run TD ≥75%. Machine-direction shrink stays at MD ≤3.0% so the label keeps its printed height across the curve.
Can the label come off cleanly for returnable or recycled bottles?
Yes — that is what our PETG Bidirectional wash-off film is for. What widths and minimums do you supply?
Rolls are slit to width from 200 to 2000 mm in 30–60 μm gauges. Most standard orders start at 1 ton (MOQ 1–3 tons by grade, thickness, width, and color). A4 sheet samples and 300 m / 2000 m short rolls are available for trials before a production order.
